While a host of players followed mercurial Portuguese forward Cristiano Ronaldo‘s $500 million move to Saudi Arabia, some players rejected the move to the Arab League, despite huge contracts on offer.

One such player who rejected a move to the SPL to stay in Serie A is Italian striker Ciro Immobile. Immobile, is worth a reported $30 million and is currently captain of SS Lazio. He has scored 198 goals in 306 games for the Italian outfit. However, as per recent reports, he is rejecting the offer he received from Saudi Arabia to stay in Italy.

According to a recent report, Immobile has spoken out about his regrets over rejecting the offer from the SPL that was on the table for him in the summer. This was perhaps even more magnified because of Lazio’s poor start to the new 2023-24 Serie A season.

As this tweet on X, by the Saudi media suggests, Immobile said, After the start of this season I felt frustrated and told myself I had to accept the Saudi offer.

As per earlier reports, Cristiano Ronaldo has informed the Al Nassr chiefs that he’s looking to extend his contract at the club until 2027. The Portuguese star’s current deal with Al Nassr runs till 2025. So Ronaldo is looking at a further $500 million two-year extension to his current contract.

The reports also state that Ronaldo is looking to represent his home country of Portugal by playing in the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The USA, Canada, and Mexico will be hosting the major tournament. However, Ronaldo will be 41 by the time the tournament kicks off, so whether he can maintain his fitness levels to captain Portugal in the next edition of the fable remains unknown. But perhaps the Portugal icon still has some fuel left in the tank for a final push for World Cup glory in 2026.
