Broncos Insider Zac Stevens Drops Injury Update and It Has Five Reasons For Russell Wilson and Sean Payton to Worry

Broncos’ head coach Sean Payton described the bloodbath against the Miami Dolphins as “embarrassing” and “tough to watch“. The 70-20 match set multiple records, but most of them were not in the Broncos’ favor. Amid the looming match against the equally poorly performing 0-3 Chicago Bears, the Broncos hope to register their first win of the season. But the latest injury report has already cast doubts on their chances.

While Russell Wilson did seem to pick up in the Miami game, setting the record for the most rushing passes in NFL history at 5,000 yards, his team suffered some casualties. No matter how good a QB is, he cannot perform well with a weakened team. So is the game over for the Broncos?

Denver Broncos insider Zac Stevens took to X to share the Broncos’ Thursday injury update. In the report, five players have been listed. LB Frank Clark sustained a tear in his groin and abductor in a practice session before their losing match against the Washington Commanders. The injury will sideline him again in the match against the Bears, but it is likely that he will return for the Jets match in Week 5.

Broncos’ ILB Josey Jewell had logged over 15 tackles in the first two weeks of the season. His injury will strip Denver of one of its key starting inside linebackers. In another blow to the defense, DT Mike Purcell, who had been activated in the match against the Dolphins, has shown up with a knee injury in the latest report. Purcell registered a QB hit in both of the Broncos’ starting games.

Meanwhile, WR Jerry Jeudy, although a popular choice among fantasy football fans, will not be on the real-world field in the Bears match due to a knee injury. Perhaps the most devastating absence on the chart will be that of Justin Simmons, who had limited participation in the practice session. The FS has been listed as nursing a hip injury. How will the Broncos fare with key horses missing from the cavalry?

Will the horses outpace the Bears in point tally?

The Miami Dolphins bloodied the Broncos defense for 726 total yards. While Justin Simmons has been listed on the injury report, fans are hopeful that he will play as his status improved from DNP to LP. With the offense picking up under the leadership of QB Russell Wilson, the defense will have to ensure that they block as many points as possible.

The Bears have a slightly better injury list with only 4 of them skipping practice due to injuries. Three of them are on the defensive side. While DBs Josh Blackwell and Eddie Jackson and CB Jaylon Johnson are nursing hamstring injuries, RB Travis Homer is listed with a knee injury. Will the Broncos be able to take advantage of this and assure Denver fans that all hope is not lost?
