“He Talking Sh*t”: Preparing to Fight David Benavidez, Demetrius Andrade Fires Back at Canelo Alvarez for “50–50 Fight” Remarks

Demetrius Andrade has been a world title holder in two weight classes. However, in a true sense, and probably to his reckoning, he has yet to make a mark in the big league. The Rhode Island-born Southpaw perhaps understands that time is no longer an ally he can depend on. He returned in January this year after a break lasting nearly fourteen months. But he needs to ensure his moves are not wide of the mark. Hence, he now has a fight with the potential to provide the breakthrough he had been looking forward to.

He will meet WBC (Interim) Super Middleweight Champion David Benavidez at the Michelob ULTRA Arena in Las Vegas on November 25. ‘The Mexican Monster’ remains the WBC mandatory challenger to Canelo Alvarez. Hence, a win over him will give excellent footing to Andrade’s ambitions to square up against the man he has been chasing for the last few years. Demetrius Andrade later clarified during the kick-off presser that he greatly admires Alvarez’s fighting abilities. He acknowledges the kind of work the Mexican champion is putting in. However, fans and journalists should convince Alvarez to fight to take on either the winner or the loser on November 25, if necessary.
