“I Want to Wrestle With the Best”: Newest WWE Star Jade Cargill Throws Shade at AEW’s Roster Despite Unprecedented 508-Day Reign as Champion

Just hours ago, the pro wrestling world was buzzing as WWE hit the headlines after landing a massive coup. In a blow to rival AEW, the Stamford-based promotion has been able to acquire the services of Jade Cargill. Going by the numbers, Cargill has been Tony Khan’s greatest champion, with an unprecedented 508-day title run. Despite that massive accomplishment, the 31-year-old doesn’t seem impressed.

She is yet to step inside the WWE ring, but that hasn’t stopped the former AEW mainstay from detailing her assignments, which she hopes to accomplish in the future. Big Jade has grand plans for herself, which she shared with hosts David and Kaz of The Masked Man Show podcast.

When asked about her mindset and how she knew it was time for her to sign with WWE, Cargill said, “I want to create a legacy. I want to be in the Hall of Fame.” WWE’s newest superstar then took a subtle jab as she added, “I want to wrestle with the best women in the world.” While she didn’t explicitly say it, does it mean AEW doesn’t have the best women wrestlers, according to Jade Cargill? For now, there’s no clear answer to this query.

Praising her current workplace, Cargill, who signed a multi-year contract with WWE, said the opportunities are endless in the company. “It’s a no brainer. It was very welcoming. I didn’t have any second thoughts about it at all,” she said. Cargill also told the host that the decision was an “easy choice”.

Interestingly, the WWE wasn’t too keen on her a few years ago. While her signing has got a part of the WWE Universe excited, it took her time and an extended title run to crack the deal, quite literally.

Jade Cargill says it was always her mission to join WWE

It wouldn’t be a stretch to state that for most pro wrestlers, the WWE is the place to be. As the world’s biggest pro wrestling promotion, the WWE can facilitate wrestlers in ways that others might find difficult. So, it isn’t surprising that Jade Cargill always dreamed of being with them.

She tried a few years ago but failed to impress officials at the WWE tryout in 2019. Then, Cargill joined the AEW the following year and had a title run from January 2022 to September 2023, that outmatched other wrestlers’ reigns in the promotion.

Cargill not only managed to improve her in-ring performance, she also saw her stocks rise sharply. Following the deal, the Florida native told the hosts that she had been preparing for it for a long time.

Stating it was always a mission, Jade Cargill said, “I felt like this was gonna happen, honestly. This is all expected.” Now, WWE fans would wait eagerly for her in-ring debut. However, it is yet to be finalized which of the three brands- RAW, SmackDown, NXT, would be Cargill’s first assignment in the promotion.
