Outclassing Defending Champion, Simone Biles Avenges Shilese Jones’ Last Year’s Miss, Carrying US Pride at World Artistic Gymnastics Championships 2023

On the second day of the 2023 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships qualifiers, it was no surprise to see Simone Biles on her usual winning spree. Despite facing tough blows from competitors, the GOAT stood atop her game with a total of 58.865. Clearly, the overall standings with the USA on top with a score of 171.395, speak louder owing to the terrific displays of the six-member roster. Besides these gymnastic greats, one 23-year-old exhibited her phenomenal vault skills, following Biles.

Rebeca Andrade, the Brazilian artistic gymnast, displayed her finesse and left the Antwerp audience in awe. The 2020 and 2021 World Champion in the vault didn’t face much trouble to land smoothly. However, Biles has enough reason to be proud of herself for avenging her teammate’s last year loss.

Itanastics took to her ‘X’ handle to boast Rebeca’s medal-winning performance. Having to sit out on the floor routine for a while, the vault was always her strongest suit. They captioned the post, saying, “Rebeca Andrade VT QF Worlds Currently in 2nd place behind Simone Biles.”

Clad in a silver and white leotard, Andrade’s flips looked facile. It seemed like the Brazilian native looked forward to setting the bars high, but couldn’t clinch a win this time. Owing to her individual score, Brazil managed the position with a total of 164.297. But Simone smiles inside for having taken the well-deserved World Championships revenge. Her two-year-long hiatus paid off really well at the 2023 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships qualifiers.
