The anticipated return to the team is slated for after their Week 5 matchup against the Patriots. This means he’ll be noticeably absent for crucial games against both the Packers and the Buccaneers.

Marcus Maye’s suspension stems from a complex situation. It’s worth noting that while one charge against him was dropped back in May, the suspension is linked to a DUI arrest dating back to 2021. A time when he was still with the Jets before joining the Saints. Maye reached a plea deal related to this incident in late August.

During Maye’s absence, New Orleans may lean on rookie Jordan Howden, who has undergone training for both safety positions during the offseason. The team also has the experienced Johnathan Abram on the practice squad, and there are currently a few vacant roster spots. Since then he kept on improving his game and became the safety of the new Orleans Saints.

Adding to the team’s challenges, they are also dealing with the absence of Alvin Kamara and Jake Haener due to suspensions. Kamara is set to return after Sunday’s game against Green Bay.
