Stroud appeared on “The Pat McAfee Show,” where the host, Pat McAfee, asked Stroud how he had smoothly sailed through the NFL games. Following this, Stroud credited his tenure with Ohio State and his preseason games. 

Sharing his secret, Stroud said: “I think it definitely goes back to playing at Ohio State. I wanted to play at the biggest stage against the best competition. I mean everybody who’s played at Ohio State knows that every day in practice you’re playing against the first-rounder or somebody who’s really good on the other side. So the competition that was bred at practice definitely helped.”

The 22-year-old QB then credited his preseason game. Stroud said, “I learned my lessons in the preseason. I think that was really big for me to have a little trouble at first and then grow every week.” However, preseason struggles are becoming fruitful, and the rookie QB is on the verge of surpassing Patrick Mahomes.

‘It’s just the beginning,’ rookie CJ Stroud spreads his message

In the four games of the 2023 season, Stroud has lodged 1,212 yards so far. The Texans QB is averaging 303 yards per game, and per the average, if Stroud throws for 300 yards in the Texans’ next game against the Atlanta Falcons, then Stroud will be reaching a score of 1512 yards in the first five games. Following this, Stroud will surpass Mahomes’ record of 1,484 yards in the first five games of his rookie season.
